We organize our activities and efforts around a four-pronged process which is based on our mission statement:
Faith Baptist Church exalts Jesus Christ in joyous worship, embraces His word through effective teaching, engages His people by fostering community, and expresses His love in serving and reaching the world.
At it's core, this directive is all about worship. But it's more than just singing some songs together on Sunday morning. The heart of Faith is to develop followers of Christ who worship Jesus 24/7/365. To accomplish this we teach, preach, and model worship as a lifestyle. Central to this is a consistent and growing prayer life. Faith encourages spontaneous and fervent prayer, whether we're gathered together as a large group, a small group, just two or three, and certainly in times alone with the Lord. As we exalt Jesus He will direct every aspect of our lives, individually and corporately.
Primary avenues for exalting Jesus: personal prayer, corporate prayer (Sunday & Wednesday), Sunday celebration service
Embrace His Word
Jesus says in John 4:24 that we must worship God in spirit and truth. The source of all truth is the word of God. We encourage every member and attender to have a daily time in Bible reading, study, and meditation. In the context of our time together, we emphasize teaching and preaching that are centered in the Scriptures. Additionally, we encourage everyone to seek the Scriptures in finding the answers to every question and issue in their lives...relationships, finances, situations, whatever. This is the reason for using the word "embrace" in this aspect of our process; to receive the word, to avail yourself of its teaching, and to adopt its wisdom into your life.
Primary avenues for embracing His word: Sunday School, Bible study, small groups, the Word on the Word, personal Bible study
Engage His People
Engaging others in the fellowship is a two-way street. It entails our willingness to become involved with others, and it also requires that we attract them to join us in our faith journey. Jesus' plan is for believers to be part of a community, not to go through life on their own. Two of the major goals of living in community are to encourage other believers to grow in their relationship to Jesus and to provide a level of accountability for one another. Yes, the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, and leads us into all truth, but He also uses other believers to accomplish His mission.
Primary avenues for engaging His people: Sunday School, Bible study, small groups, serving
Express His Love
The church has a responsibility to be salt and light to a lost and dying world. We believe we as a church do that through evangelism and ministry. This means that we seek opportunities to meet the physical needs of others, whether they have an association with Faith or not. For those who are not part of our church body, we believe that every instance of ministry also gives us the chance to share our faith in Jesus Christ. He is the one who first loved us and motivates us to express that love to others. In obedience to the Lord's directive in Acts 1:8 we strive to evangelize and minister locally, regionally, and internationally, whether that involves our direct involvement or sending funds to those who are more able to accomplish the task, such as foreign missionaries.
